Coming in moments ago it has been announced that Elon Musk’s offer to purchase Twitter for $43 billion has been accepted and has gone through. The man now single handedly owns the entirety of Twitter.
Whose stock has already jumped to around $52 where only 5 days ago it had been hovering around $45, which says to me that most people who have been paying attention to the change are excited and eager to see what will come of it.
"I now realize the company will neither thrive nor serve societal imperative in its current form," Musk wrote in a letter to Bret Taylor, chairman of Twitter's board of directors. "Twitter has extraordinary potential. I will unlock it."
The announcement from Twitter:
"Twitter, Inc. (NYSE: TWTR) today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by an entity wholly owned by Elon Musk, for $54.20 per share in cash in a transaction valued at approximately $44 billion. Upon completion of the transaction, Twitter will become a privately held company.
Under the terms of the agreement, Twitter stockholders will receive $54.20 in cash for each share of Twitter common stock that they own upon closing of the proposed transaction. The purchase price represents a 38% premium to Twitter's closing stock price on April 1, 2022, which was the last trading day before Mr. Musk disclosed his approximately 9% stake in Twitter.
Bret Taylor, Twitter's Independent Board Chair, said, "The Twitter Board conducted a thoughtful and comprehensive process to assess Elon's proposal with a deliberate focus on value, certainty, and financing. The proposed transaction will deliver a substantial cash premium, and we believe it is the best path forward for Twitter's stockholders."
Most people can see the potential Musk brings to the company as a good thing, there are still many upset about what they’re calling “free speech absolutism”. Claiming that the entire reason for the acquisition is to allow racism and lies to freely spread across the website, infecting the minds of the commoners.
What they are really saying, is that their ideas cannot be backed up by facts nor logic, and the authoritarian system that crushed opposing viewpoints is coming to an end. Their delusional echo chamber is about to be shattered and the thought of dealing with ideas outside Twitter’s typical far left narrative is driving them crazy.
They believe themselves to be the smartest one’s in the room and that the plebian’s minds are all but too meagre to process the galaxy brain ideas. You know, the ones given to them by unaccountable establishments and globalistic corporations.
I personally look forward to the potentially now usable Twitter. Having never been a user myself it might actually be quite refreshing to have a mainstream platform that won’t be controlled by technocrats and far leftists. That allows a human conversation to take place between opposing viewpoints and doesn’t attempt to actively manipulate the minds of the userbase.
This next week will be interesting indeed! I’ll continue following the story for anymore juicy updates, hope to see you all there!
